A four-month residency at Wick Youth Club, working with young people. My job as an artist was multi-faceted but my main responsibility was to both mentor a trainee and create two site-specific video projections for a street heritage site. Collaborating with the Far North Sub Aqua Club filming underwater was a new exciting challenge.
Over six months I explored the school community through the archives and people’s current experiences of the environment. The residency culminated in an exhibition of photo manipulations, a site-specific series of brass plaques and an interactive sound installation sited in the school’s cricket pavilion.
I travelled several London to Brighton express trains a day to listen and record passenger’s stories about the railway line. I created a network of stories on a website with the resulting material of photos, sound and written word.
A dyptich of video projections capturing a figure in flightin the narthex of Guildford Cathedral. I worked in residence recording the guides and vergers at the Cathedral, and filmed two local gymnasts from Woking Gymnastics Club. The soundtrack was made in collaboration with the sound artist Lewis Williams.
This residency complimented the current commission Maximum Cube. I provided information about the interactive exhibition and created a website. This explored the De La Warr Pavilion and presented visitors’ responses to the Maximum Cube installation.
